Question 249715: I need help with this equation: 1-2x/3 + x/2 = 1
When I tryed solving this problem I got X = -4. My book says this answer is correct, but when I tryed to plug it back in it wasn't right. Please show me how to plug it in correctly. Thanks! Answer by blwinbbbles(106) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! OK so X = -4
Then:
(1-2x)/3 + x/2 = 1
(1-2(-4))/3 + -4/2 = 1
(1-(-8))/3 - 4/2 = 1
(1+8)/3 - 2 = 1
9/3 - 2 =1
3 - 2 = 1
Be sure to watch your signs on each number and be sure to perform the operations in the proper order
Hope this helps
