You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Simultaneous equations:
2x+y=8 -------(1)
3x-2y=5 ------(2)
multiply equation (1) by 2 to get
4x+2y=16 add this to equation (2) this will remove the y's
leaving
7x=21 divide both sides by 7
x=3 now put this vaue of x into either (1) or (2)
we will use (1)
2(3)+y=8
6+y=8 subtract 6 from both sides
y=2
so x=3 and y=2
check by plugging these into original equations
2(3)+2=8
6+2=8 correct!
using equation (2)
3(3)-2(2)=5
9-4=5 correct!
