Question 249192: Hello,
Can someone help me with these, I have some of the graphs but I not able to post them to this screen, and the last two problem I stuck on them since yesterday. Please help me
1. Evaluate the exponential equation for three positive values of x, three negative values of x, and at x=0. Use the resulting pairs to plot the graph. State the equation of the line asymptotic to the graph. .
I have a graph but I not sure that it is right and it will not post to this screen.
2. evaluate the logarithmic equation for three values of x that are greater than 1, three values of x that are between 0 and 1, and at x=1. Use the resulting ordered pairs to plot the graph. State the equation of the line asymptotic to the graph.
Again I have the graph but I not sure if it is right and I can not post it to this screen
3. solve; the number of dislocated impulses per cubic inch in a transformer increases when lightning strikes by D=1900(2)^x, where x is the time in milliseconds fo the lightning strike. Find the number of dislocated impulses at x=0 and x=4
4. how long will it take for the population of a certain country to triple if its annual growth rate is 2.8%?(round to the nearest year). Use the exponential growth model P(t)=P0e^kt
Thank you,
Tammy

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I'll do the first two to get you started.
# 1
In order to graph , we need to plot a few points.
To get points in the form of (x,y), we need to find corresponding 'y' values to given 'x' values.
Let's find the y value when note: you can start at any x value.
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Raise 5 to the power of to get .
Add.
So if , then which gives us the point (-3,3.008).
----------------------------
Let's find the y value when
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Raise 5 to the power of to get .
Add.
So if , then which gives us the point (-2,3.04).
----------------------------
Let's find the y value when
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Raise 5 to the power of to get .
Add.
So if , then which gives us the point (-1,3.2).
----------------------------
Let's find the y value when
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Raise 5 to the power of to get .
Add.
So if , then which gives us the point (1,8).
----------------------------
Let's find the y value when
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Raise 5 to the power of to get .
Add.
So if , then which gives us the point (2,28).
----------------------------
Let's find the y value when
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Raise 5 to the power of to get .
Add.
So if , then which gives us the point (3,128).
----------------------------
Now let's make a table of the values we just found.
Table of Values:
x | y | -3 | 3.008 |
-2 | 3.04 |
-1 | 3.2 |
1 | 8 |
2 | 28 |
3 | 128 |
Now let's plot the points. Note: not all of the points will be visible.
Graph:
Now draw a curve through all of the points to graph :

Let's find the y value when
Start with the given equation.
Plug in .
Evaluate the log base 5 of to get .
So if , then which gives us the point (4,-0.861).
