Question 248479: I have a question about tree diagrams &probablities. It says:
Use a tree diagram to show all possible results when a single die is rolled TWICE to list the ways of getting the sum of the numbers showing to equal 5,.
I think the "twice" roll is confusing me & i keep getting different outcomes.
****thank you very very much!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

There are 36 possible total outcomes for either rolling a single die twice or rolling two dice simultaneously.

1 way to make 2: 1 & 1
2 ways to make 3: 1 & 2 or 2 & 1
3 ways to make 4: 1 & 3 or 2 & 2 or 3 & 1
4 ways to make 5: 1 & 4 or 2 & 3 or 3 & 2 or 4 & 1
5 ways to make 6: 1 & 5 or 2 & 4 or 3 & 3 or 4 & 2 or 5 & 1
6 ways to make 7: 1 & 6...you get the idea
5 ways to make 8
4 ways to make 9
3 ways to make 10
2 ways to make 11
1 way to make 12

1 plus 2 plus 3 plus 4 plus 5 = 15, 2 times 15 is 30, plus 6 = 36.
