If each dancer needs 9 square feet, and you have 100 dancers, that would be 900 square feet. For a square area, you need the formula A+=+s%5E2, or
s%5E2+=+900 square feet.

What number times itself is 900??? Try 30! If you didn't know this you can always take the square root of both sides, and use a calculator to take the square root of 900.
s%5E2+=+900
s=0%2B-sqrt%28900%29
s+=+30 or s=+-30

s= side of a square, so it has to be positive, s= 30 feet.
