Question 246199: I have no idea how to go about even setting this up. Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm studying for a final and this question may turn up!
A theater group plans to sell 750 tickets for a play. They are charging $12 for orchestra seats, $8 for mezzanine seats, and $6 for balcony seats, and they plan to collect $7290. There are 100 more orchestra seats than mezzanine and balcony tickets combined. How many of each type of ticket were sold?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! A theater group plans to sell 750 tickets for a play.
Quantity Equation: O + M + B = 750
-----------------
They are charging $12 for orchestra seats, $8 for mezzanine seats, and $6 for balcony seats, and they plan to collect $7290.
Value Equation: 12R + 8M + 6B = 7290 dollars
----------------
There are 100 more orchestra seats than mezzanine and balcony tickets combined.
Quantity Equationg: R = (M+B)+100
--------------------------------
How many of each type of ticket were sold?
---------------------------------------------------
You have three equations in three unknowns.
Solve the system of equations in any way you know how.
Cheers,
Stan H.
