Question 246085: Can anyone help me with this?
Solve by elimination
5x+5y=-7
7x-3y=19
I do not understand this I keep getting different answers, the solution is suppose to be an ordered pair of fractions thank you for your time

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x+5y=-7
7x-3y=19
to solve by elimination we must eliminate one of the variables
multiply the first by 3 and the second by 5
15x+15y=-21
35x-15y=95
now add the two new equations
50x=74
x=74/50
divide by 2
x=37/25
we can do similarly for y ( multiply first by 7 and second by 5 and subtract)
or substitute 37/25 into one of the equations
