You can put this solution on YOUR website!
At the pure water bottling company one machine can produce 180 bottles in 5 hours and a newer machine can produce 180 bottles in three hours. How long would it take the two machines working together to produce 720 bottles of water?
----------------
rate of the 1st machine: 180/5 = 36 bottles per hour
-------------------
rate of the 2nd machine: 180/3 = 60 bottles per hour
-------------------
rate of both machines together: (36+60) = 96 bottles per hour
--------------------
Time to produce 720 bottles:
Let the time be "x" hrs.
x(96/hr) = 720
x = 720/96
x = 7.5 hrs.
