Where and are the coordinates of points J and K to calculate the slope of the line containing the segment JK.

Use the fact that parallel lines have equal slopes to write an equation of the line that contains segment LM. Use the point-slope form of the equation of a line:



Where is the slope you just calculated and are the coordinates of point L. Call this equation 1.

Repeat the above process with segment KL and point J to write an equation of the line containing the segment JM. Call this equation 2.

The line represented by equation 1 and the line represented by equation 2 will intersect at point M. Solve the system of equations. The solution set will be the coordinates of point M.
