we can assume that this is a going to make a right triangle..
that means you can use the equation:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (a squared plus b squared equals c squared)
so let the pole of 27 ft be the "a" side and the distance from the pole to the guy wire anchor (21 ft) can be the "b" side..so we are looking for "c"
Therefore:
27^2 + 21^2 = c^2
729 + 441 = c^2
1170 = c^2
so now we take the square root of both sides and find that
c = 34.2 feet
