You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A stuntman built a ramp in a shape of a right triangle. If The Base of the ramp is 12 feet long, and the length of the incline is 6 feet longer then the height, then what is the height of the ramp?
a^2+b^2=c^2
12^2+b^2=(b+6)^2
use FOIL
multiply first terms. b*b=b^2
multiply outer terms b*6
multiply inner terms 6*b
add together=12b
multiply last terms 6*6=36
144+b^2=(b+6)(b+6)=b^2+12b+36
subtract b^2 from both sides.
144=12b+36
108=12b
9 ft =b=height
check
144+81=15^2=225
