Scaling is the same as a ratio.
If you have a scale of 1 in. = 2 ft.
1in:24in or 1/24 is the scale or ratio.
Example:
An 80 ft. tree casts a 120 ft. shadow.
Another tree casts a 200 ft. shadow at the same time.
What is the height of the second tree.
80:100=x:200 cross multiply
100x=80*200
100x=16,000
x=16,000/100
x=160 ft. tall.
