Any line parallel to the given line 3y-4x=12 i.e., 3y=4x+12 will have the same slope as the given line. In the equation, the slope is given by the ratio of the coefficient of x to coefficient of y.
Naturally, the required line also will have its equation with x and y coefficients same as that of given line. so, let us take the equation as 3y=4x+k.
what needs to be found now is the constant 'k'. Here we go now to find k.
given that the point (1, 4) lies on the line. So, (1, 4) has to satisfy the equation of the line. So, we must choose the constant in such a way that when we plug the values x=1, y=4 in the equation, it should get satisfied. Right?!
clearly, 3(4)=4(1)+k will be satisfied when k=8
so the equation to the required line is 3y=4x+8
