Question 242998: Please help me solve: A landscaper wants to enclose a rectangle garden with a fence. There is 80 feet of fence availabled for this job. What would the dimesions of the garden be if he wants to maximize the area of the garden?

I know area=length*width and 2x+2y=80, but then I got stuck.
Thanks in advance for your help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The maximum area for a rectangle is a square.
4x=80
x=80/4
x=20 ft. per side.
Proof:
20*20=400 ft^2.
Try any other set of sides.
19*21=399 ft^2
