Question 242881: how do you solve and graph this inequality: y>1/2-1

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how do you solve and graph this inequality:
y > (1/2)x - 1
--------------------
You never graph an inequality directly.
You 1st of all graph the corresponding
boundary EQUALITY.
----
Graph y = (1/2)x -1 as a dashed line.
If x = 0, y = -1
If x = 2, y = 0
------------------------
Plot the points (0,-1) and (2,0)
and draw a dashed line thru them.
That is the boundary line.
-----------------------------------
Since you want y to be LESS than (1/2)x -1,
shade the half-plane BELOW the boundary line.
