Question 242637: I need help please in working the following problem out.
A 12-pound puppy is gaining weight at a rate of lb per week. How much more time will it take for the puppy's weight to exceed 37 lb?
This is what I have tried, If x = time in weeks
then x * 2/3 +12 >37 and 2/3
Thank you

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A 12-pound puppy is gaining weight at a rate of (2/3)lb per week. How much more time will it take for the puppy's weight to exceed 37 lb?
This is what I have tried, If x = time in weeks
then x * (2/3) +12 >37
----
That looks good.
Then:
(2/3)x > 25
x > (3/2)25
x > 3*12.5
x > 37.5
---
It will take 38 weeks.
Cheers,
