Question 24017: How do you do these problems? I tried them and i can not get the solutions! (the slash \ means square root. the ` means to the nth power)
1) 3\X = 5 = (3\X)`2 = 5`2
X = 25? that is what i got...
2) \13y-3 = \7y+9
3)\X-5 - 1 = \X
(\X-5)`2 = (\X+1)`2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. 3sqrt%28x%29+=+5
sqrt%28x%29+=+5%2F3
x = 25/9

2. sqrt%2813y-3%29+=++sqrt%287y%2B9%29
13y-3+=+7y%2B9
6y-3+=+9
6y+=+12
--> y = 12/6
--> y = 2

3. sqrt%28x-5%29+-+1+=+sqrt%28x%29
now this one is far more tricky and i would hesitate to say that my version of what you have written is wrong, so can you please re-submit the correct/clearer version of part3.
