How do I use two unit multipliers to convert 300 inches to meters?

We will go from inches to centimeters to meters

Start with 100 in written as a fraction with 1 denominator:

 100 in
————————
    1

Now we wish to cancel away the inches and bring in cemtimeters.
We know that 2.54 centimeters = 1 inch, so we make a unit
multiplier fraction out of that putting inches on the bottom
and centimeters on the top, so they will cancel. So now we have

 100 in 2.54 cm
———————— × —————————
    1 1 in

Now we will be able to cancel the inches like this

 100 in 2.54 cm
———————— × —————————
    1 1 in

Now we wish to cancel away the centimeters and bring in meters.
We know that 100 centimeters = 1 meter, so we make a unit
multiplier fraction out of that putting centimeters on the bottom
and meters on the top, so they will cancel. So now we have

 100 in 2.54 cm 1 m
———————— × ————————— × ————————
    1 1 in 100 cm

Now when we do all the cancelling

 100 in 2.54 cm 1 m
———————— × ————————— × ————————
    1 1 in 100 cm

Now it just so happens that the 100's cancel too:

 100 in 2.54 cm 1 m
———————— × ————————— × ————————
    1 1 in 100 cm

So we end up with

2.54 meters
