Question 23928: 7x+3=15x+9
Answer by Sridi(6) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Subtract 7x from each side.
We now have
7x -7x +3 = 15x - 7x + 9
3 = 8x+9
Subtract 9 from each side.
3-9 = 8x+9 -9
-6 = 8x
Divide by 8 and simplify each side.
{8x/8} = {-6/8}
x = -3/4

Back check:
The value for x you get must satisfy the original equation
7x+3=15x+9
(-21/4)+ 3 = (-45/4) + 9
Work this out and both sides are equal to -9/4
