-------------------------
Equations:
Quantity Eq:::: d = n + 2
Value Eq::::: 10d + 5n = 170 cents
------------------------------------------
Substitute d = n+2 into the Value Eq. and solve for "n":
10(n+2) + 5n = 170
10n+20 + 5n = 170
15n = 150
n = 10 (# of nickels)
----------------------------------
Since d = n+2, d = 12 (# of dimes)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
D = N + 2
.1D + .05N = 1.70
Solving yields N = 10 and D = 12
