It's not clear what you mean. Add some parentheses.

Simplify by removing factors of 1 (factors of 1?)
t^2-1/(t+1)^2
This could be t^2 - (1/(t+1)^2, but I think it's
(t^2-1)/(t+1)^2
= (t+1)*(t-1)/(t+1)^2
= (t-1)/(t+1)
