You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Steps:
a. Distribute the negative sign in (x+1)
b. Solve for x by moving all digits to the right of eqn
.
Problem:
4-%28x%2B1%29=8
4%2B%28-1%2Ax%29%2B%28-1%2A1%29=8
4-x-1=8
Now deduct 4 on each side of eqn, you get:
-x-1=8-4
-x-1=4
Now add 1 to both sides of eqn, you get:
-x=4%2B1
-x=5
Now multiply by -1 on both sides to see what x is:
x=5%2A-1
x=-5
Done!
