f = fat

m = 300
f = .2*t
t = m + f

substitute 300 for m and .2*t for f in equation t = m + f to get:

t = 300 + .2*t

subtract .2*t from both sides of the equation to get:

.8*t = 300

divide both sides by .8 to get:

t = 300/.8 = 375

you can add 75 pounds of fat to 300 pounds of meat to meet the requirement.

total becomes 375

fat equals 20% of 375 equals 75

meat equals 80% of 375 equals 300.
