Write this as an equation, where "what" means the unknown, which is x:
75% of what is 1.25
.75 * x = 1.25

So to find x, divide both sides by .75
%28.75x%29%2F.75+=+1.25%2F.75
x+=+1.25%2F.75+=+125%2F75+=+5%2F3
Check it just to be sure I didn't embarrass myself (again!) to the whole world by making a dumb error:
75% of 5/3 is 1.25 True or false? True! It checks!!
