Question 237161: So i have a triangle, and i have its three coordinates. How do i make a algebraic solution for it?
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Y=mX+b IS THE LINE EQUATION. m=SLOPE=(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1) & b=THE Y INTERCEPT.
(A,B), (C,D), (E,F) WOULD BE THE 3 COORDINATES.
SLOPE 1=(D-B)/(C-A)
SLOPE 2=(F-D)/(E-C)
SLOPE 3=(F-B)/(E-A)
REPLACE THE X & Y TERMS WITH THE (A,B) TERMS & SLOPE 1 & SOLVE FOR b THE Y INTERCEPT.
DO THE SAME FOR THE OTHER 2 COORDINATES.
THEN PLOT THE 3 LINES THUS FORMING THE TRIANGLE.
