We have a comprehensive blog post on solving this problem here: http://www.beatthewonderlic.com/blog/2015/1/10/a-train-travels-20-feet-in-15-second-at-this-same-speed-how-many-feet-will-it-travel-in-three-seconds
SOLUTION:
Step 1: Get to 1.
If a train travels 20 feet in 1/5 second, then how far will it travel in 1 whole second? We mus multiply 20 by 5 to find out:
20 * 5 = 100
Step 2: Extrapolate.
If a train travels 20 feet in 1 second, then it must travel 3 times as far in 3 seconds:
100 * 3 = 300
Answer: 300 feet
