Question 235444: This is a word problem, I am terrible with word problems.
After leaving Moose Jaw, Hanson drove
200 kilometers at x km/hr and then decreased his speed by
20 km/hr and drove 240 additional kilometers. Make a table
like the one in Exercise 87.Write a rational expression for
his total traveling time. Evaluate the expression for x = 100.ms.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each change requires a different
equation because a change will make
the graph of d+=+r%2At a different
straight line
1st part of trip:
200+=+x%2At
2nd part of trip:
240+=+%28x+-+20%29%2At
This is 2 equations and 2 unknowns, so
it's solvable
My tip for word problems is: A small amount of time
spent really thinking about what's going on in
general is worth doing a hundred problems.
