I would simplify the left side fraction first and then add everything together using the same rules for regular fractions..
(1/3)/(3/a - 1) becomes 1/(3a - 3).
We now have (3/a) + 1/(3a - 3) =
Apply the same rules for regular fractions.
The denominators are different. This means we need the LCD.
LCD = a(3a - 3)
After doing the math, I got (10a - 9)/a(3a - 3)
