You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=18
3y+2x=44
These 2 equations are qiven. I made x the larger number. Solve using substitution method.
x+y=18
x=18-y
plug this into the 2nd equation
3y+2(18-y)=44
3y+36-2y=44
y+36=44
y=8
now plug this into the solution for x.
x=18-8
x=10

The sum of two numbers equals eighteen. The total of three times the smaller and two times the larger is 44.
Ok so we have two unknown numbers. We will call the smaller one x and the larger one y.
So x%2By=18 and 3x%2B2y=44
Now we have a system of equations.
And we can write x=18-y
Now when you see x in the second equation replace it with 18-y
This gives us.
3%2818-y%29%2B2y=44
48-3y%2B2y=44 Subtract 48 from both sides.
-y=-4 Divide both sides by -1.
y=4
And x was 18-y so x=18-4=14
So x=14 and y=4

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Equation 1: A+%2B+B+=+18
Equation 2: 3A+%2B+2B+=+44
Solve equation 1 for one of the variables.
I solved it for A.
A = 18 - B
Plug 18 - B in for A into equation 2
3%2A%2818+-+B%29+%2B+2B+=+44 Then rewrite the equation
54+-+3B+%2B+2B+=+44 Rewrite the equation again
54+-+B+=+44 Add B to both sides
54+=+44+%2B+B Subtract 44 from both sides
54+-+44+=+B
10+=+B
Now plug b = 10 into equation 1
A+%2B+10+=+18 Subtract 10 from both sides
A+=+8
So your answer is 8 & 10
