Question 23372: My assignment was to figure out the formula for measuring sound, and to pick a specific sound, and give the decibels of the sound and explain what this measurement means. I don't even know how to begin.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Use your Google search to look at "Sound frequency decibel"
separately or in combination.
Human sound is between 20hz and 20khz.
For example, for a frequency of 45hz the sound wave formula is
y = sin [(2pi/45)x].
Intensity of sound expressed in dB = 10log [(sound intensity/threshold ]intensity). The threshold is a certain level of intensity that physicists
use as a measuring unit to determine the dB measurement of a sound they
are studying.
For example a Rock Concert has been measured as having a dB level between
102 and 106 dB
Put that 102 into the formula and you get the following:
102dB =10log[Intensity/threshold]
10^101 = Intensity/ threshold
Sound intensity of the concert is (10^101)*(threshold intensity)
That is LOUD.
