You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two planes are 6,000 miles apart, and their speeds differ by 200 mph. They travel towards each other and meet in 5 hours. Find the speed of the slower plane?
.
Let x = speed of slower plane
then
x+200 = speed of faster plane
.
Applying the distance formula: d = rt
5x + 5(x+200) = 6000
5x + 5x+1000 = 6000
5x + 5x = 5000
10x = 5000
x = 500 mph (speed of slower plane)
