Question 23203: simplify
[(2x+5)/(x-2)]+[(x+3)/(x-1)]
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! LCD is (x-2)(x-1)
Write each fraction with the LCD as the denominator as follows:
[(2x+5)(x-1)]/LCD + [(x+3)(x-2)]/LCD
Use FOIL and rewrite as follows:
[2x^2+3x-5]/LCD + [x^2+x-6]/LCD
Add the two fractions as follows:
[3x^2+4x-11]/LCD
You might check to see if there is a common factor
in the numerator and the denominator of the answer.
There is not, but you would have to check to make
sure you have a simplified answer.
Cheers,
