You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1) -5x+2y=-10
2) 3x-6y=-18
what would be the steps and the answer to this problem in substitution, elimination and how would it be graphed.
-------------------
Substitution:
Solve the 1st for y they substitute that into the 2nd
1)y = (5/2)x -5
2) 3x -6(5/2)x-5) = -18
---
Solve 2nd for "x"
3x-15x+30 = -18
-12x = -48
x = 4
-------
Substitute that into y = (5/2)x-5 to solve for "y":
y = (5/2)4-5 = 5
-------------------------
Solution (4,5)
============================================
1) -5x+2y=-10
2) 3x-6y=-18
---
Elimination:
Multiply thru 1st by 3 to get:
1) -15x+6y = -30
2) 3x-6y = -18
-------------------
Add and solve for "x"
-12x = -48
x = 4
-----------
Substitute that into 1st or 2nd and solve for "y":
3*4-6y = -18
12-6t = -18
-6y = -30
y = 5
-------------
Same solution as above
==============================
1) -5x+2y=-10
2) 3x-6y=-18
--
Graphing:
Solve each equation for "y":
1) y = (5/2)x-5
2: y = (1/2)x+3
----
Plot two points for each of the equations.
Drar a line thru each pair of points and
find the intersection.
