Question 230716: Directions: Determinw whether the equation is a linear equation in two variables.
1st: How do I determine the method of solving the equation:
8x-7y2(2 squared that is)=5
I used the x/y setup by first using the number 1 to represent the y in this equation I determined that this is not a proper linear equation or am i wrong or how should I go about solving this equation? I isolated the x to one side and
used 1 for the value of y and came up with:
x-6.75 while y=1 (as I stated above)
Thank You for your assistance

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Determinw whether the equation is a linear equation in two variables.
1st: How do I determine the method of solving the equation:
8x-7y^2 = 5
---------------
The very fact that the equation has a factor of y^2 shows
the equation is not linear.
