You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.52X>.44X+1.20
.52X-.44X>1.20
.08X>1.20
X>1.20/.08
X>15
ANSWER: 16 PRINTS @ $.52 WILL COST MORE THAN THE MAIL ORDER PURCHASE.
PROOF:
.52*16>.44*16+1.20
8.32>7.04+1.20
8.32>8.24

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the number of reprints = r
Let cost = c
Local photo shop:
c+=+52r (in cents)
Through mail:
c+=+44r+%2B+120
When is th3e cost of the reprints through the mail less?
44r+%2B+120+%3C+52r
Subtract 44r from both sides
120+%3C+8r
Divide both sides by 8
15+%3C+r
Or, writing it in the other direction,
r+%3E+15
mail order is less expensive if 16 reprints are ordered
check:
what is each way for 15 reprints?
c+=+52r
c+=+780
and
c+=+44r+%2B+120
c+=+44%2A15+%2B+120
c+=+660+%2B+120
c+=+780
OK
Now check each way for 16 reprints
