If the word "log" is used and the base is not specified it is
assumed to be 10.

To solve just equation x^2+3 and x+6 and solve for "x":

Yes, you could use the TI-83
Enter log(x^2+3) as Y1 and log(x+6) as Y2
Then select Zoom and then "0".
Then select CALC
Then select 5 Intersect

Hit the "ENTER" key 3 times to find the intersection.
