Question 230034: can graphs of linear functions be used to find the exact solution to any pair of functions? explain answer
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I would say NO for a couple of reasons. First of all, sometimes there is NOT a unique point. The lines may be PARALLEL or the SAME LINE. Even worse, the lines could LOOK like they are parallel, but not actually be exactly parallel.
However, the answer you are probably looking for is based upon the word "exact." The solution may NOT come out even. The solution, assuming that there is ONE, might be some ugly fraction or even worse an even uglier radical value! The solution may NOT have an exact decimal value!!
