Find four consecutive odd integers such that the sum of the first three EXCEEDS the fourth by 18.
:
Four consecutive odd integers, x, (x+2), (x+4), (x+6)
:
Sum of the 1st three: x + (x+2) + (x+4) = (3x + 6)
:
Exceeds the 4th
3x + 6 = x + 6 + 18
3x - x = 6 + 18 - 6
2x = 18
x = 9
