problem: 3x to the fifth, times (-7x) squared but REMEBER the exponent is on the outside of the parenthesis!!!!!!!
so would the answer be -21x to the seventh or something else like (-21x) to the seventh or something? Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! It makes a lot of difference
(7x)^2 is actually 7^2*x^2 = 49x^2, whereas 7x^2 is just that
:
3x to the fifth, times (-7x) squared
:
square both terms inside the brackets
:
: ; add exponents when you multiply
