You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The length of a rectangular swimming pool is 2 meters more than its width. If the perimeter is 60 meters, find all dimensions. Please include a let statement.

Step 1. Perimeter P means adding up all 4 sides of a rectangle.

Step 2. Let w be the width.

Step 3. Let w+2 be the length since length is 2 meters more than the width.

Step 4. Then, P=w+w+w+2+w+2=4w+4=60 since perimeter is 60 meters

Step 5. Solving yields P=4w%2B4=60 the following steps

Subtract 4 from both sides of the equation

4w%2B4-4=60-4

4w=56

Divide by 4 to both sides of the equation

cross%284%29w%2Fcross%284%29=56%2F4

w=14 and w%2B2=16. Then P=2%2814%2B16%29=60 which is a true statement.

Step 5. ANSWER: The dimensions of the rectangle are 14 meters and 16 meters.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
