You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find 3 consecutive odd integers such that the sum of the least and greatest is 42. Please include a let statement.

Step 1. Let n be the first odd integer.

Step 2. Let n+2 and n+4 be the next two odd and consecutive integers.

Step 3. Then, n+n+4=42 since the sum of the least and greatest is 42.

Step 4. Solving yields the following steps,

2n%2B4=42

Subtract 4 from both sides of the equation

2n%2B4-4=42-4

2n=38

Divide by 2 to both sides of the equation

cross%282%29n%2Fcross%282%29=38%2F2

n=19, n%2B2=21 and n%2B4=23 Note the sum of 19 and 23 is 42.

Step 5. ANSWER: The three consecutive odd integers are 19, 21, and 23.

I hope the above steps were helpful.
