I'd never thought of it before, but I suppose you could square each of the terms, then take twice the product of each combination of terms.
I guess that would do it, right?

I don't know! It probably is easier (and safer!) to just multiply it out the regular way. Maybe that's why I never heard of this "shortcut"!!
