Question 229039: I need help with the Linear Equations Clearing Fractions. My question is:
(4z+7)/5 = z+2
I can usually get the ones I miss if I leave it alone for a few minutes and go back to it but this one is just not working for me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
%284z%2B7%29%2F5+=+z%2B2 Start with the given equation.

4z%2B7+=+5%28z%2B2%29 Multiply both sides by 5.

4z%2B7=5z%2B10 Distribute.

4z=5z%2B10-7 Subtract 7 from both sides.

4z-5z=10-7 Subtract 5z from both sides.

-z=10-7 Combine like terms on the left side.

-z=3 Combine like terms on the right side.

z=%283%29%2F%28-1%29 Divide both sides by -1 to isolate z.

z=-3 Reduce.

Answer:

So the solution is z=-3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(4z+7)/5=z+2
multiply by 5
4z+7=(z+2)5
4z+7=5z+10
subtract 4z
7=z+10
subtract 10
z=-3
