You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In this problem, if the tickets cost $20 a piece, and they bought 80 then the company would have spent $1,600. Now if they gave 20 way, then they only have 60 left to sell. At half price equaling $10, multiplied by 60, equals $600 profit.
Now with a $1600 being spent on tickets and they only gained $600 profit from selling the rest to the employees for half price, their loss equals $1000.
Each ticket= $20
Employee paid= $10

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let p= purchase price of a ticket
Amount taken in for sales to employees =
60%2A%28p%2F2%29
This amount is $1000 less than the price of 80 tickets which =
80p
60%2A%28p%2F2%29+=+80p+-+1000
60p+=+160p+-+2000
100p+=+2000
p+=+20
An employee paid p%2F2 per ticket
p%2F2+=+10
Employees played $10 for a ticket
check:
60%2A%28p%2F2%29+=+80p+-+1000
60%2A10+=+80%2A20+-+1000
600+=+1600+-+1000
600+=+600
OK
