You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Mary is the manger of a movie theater. For one show she sold 540 tickets and collected a total of $2935. If she sold adult tickets for $6.50 and student tickets for $4.00, how many of each did she sell?
.
Let x = number of adult tickets sold
then
540-x = number of student tickets sold
.
6.50x + 4(540-x) = 2945
6.50x + 1800 - 4x = 2945
2.50x + 1800 = 2945
2.50x = 1145
x = 458 (adult tickets)
.
Student tickets:
540-x = 540-458 = 82
