Question 227977: I am trying to help my daughter with solving rational expressions - and I have forgotten exactly how to do it
The problem is:
F = f1f2/f1+f2 --- Solve for f2. I know the first step is to multiply both sides by f1+f2 to get it out of the denominator.
this leaves: (f1+f2)F = f1f2 or F(f1)+F(f2) = f1f2 --- I forgot what to do next - except I know I need to isolate f2.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Try this!
F+=+%28f%5B1%5D%2Af%5B2%5D%29%2F%28f%5B1%5D%2Bf%5B2%5D%29 Your first step is good!
F%28f%5B1%5D%2Bf%5B2%5D%29+=+f%5B1%5D%2Af%5B2%5D Now you need to collect the f%5B2%5D's together. Perform the indicated multiplication on the left side.
F%2Af%5B1%5D%2BF%2Af%5B2%5D+=+f%5B1%5D%2Af%5B2%5D Now subtractF%2Af%5B2%5Dfrom both sides.
F%2Af%5B1%5D+=+f%5B1%5D%2Af%5B2%5D-F%2Af%5B2%5D Factor the f%5B2%5D on the right side.
F%2Af%5B1%5D+=+f%5B2%5D%28f%5B1%5D-F%29 Finally, divide both sides by%28f%5B1%5D-F%29leaving f%5B2%5D on the right side.
%28F%2Af%5B1%5D%29%2F%28f%5B1%5D-F%29+=+f%5B2%5D or
highlight%28f%5B2%5D+=+%28F%2Af%5B1%5D%29%2F%28f%5B1%5D-F%29%29
