Step 1. Add 2x to both sides of the equation to get numbers on one side and variables on the right.

6x%2B6=18

Step 2. Subtract 6 from both sides of the equation to isolate x-terms.

6x%2B6-6=18-6

6x=12

Step 3. Divide by 6 to both sides of the equation

6x%2F6=12%2F6

x=2

Step 4. Check solution with original equation 4x%2B6=18-2x to see it leads to true statement.

4%2A2%2B6=18-2%2A2

8%2B6=18-4

14=14 which is a true statement
