You can put this solution on YOUR website! D=RT
5=R*1/12
5=R/12
R=5*12
R=60 MPH SPEED GOING DOWNSTREAM WITH THE SURRENT.
5=R*1/3
5=R/3
R=5*3
R=15 MPH SPEED GOING UPSTREAM AGAINST THE CURRENT.
(60-15)/2=45/2=22.5 MPH IS THE SPEED OF THE BOAT IN STILL WATER.
PROOF:
60-22.5=37.5 MPH IS THE SPEED OF THE CURRENT.
15+22.5=37.5 DITTO.
