lets imagine that the absolute value bars arn't there
3(y+4)+2=14
lets distribute the 3 and subtract the 2 from bothe sides at the same time
3y+12=12
suntract 12 from bothe sides
3y=0
divide 3 from both sides and u have your answer
y=0
