find the slope of the line y=-3x

When any equation of a line is solved for y,
the coefficient of x on the right side is always
equal to the slope of the line. The equation

y = -3x

is solved for y, and the coefficient of x on
the right side is -3. Therefore the slope of
the line is -3.
